Lloyd SPA - Innovation and Tradition since 1987
Conceria LLOYD S.p.A. was founded in 1981, producing and marketing vegetable-tanned leather for belts, leather goods, saddlery and footwear. Production is based on raw Italian and international cattle hides in shoulder, butt and front skins. Conceria LLOYD is based in Santa Croce Sull’Arno and is a member of the FINATAN SPA Group. It is specialised in vegetable tannage, considered the oldest.
Already in 1987, business activities underwent a diversification process, first introducing buffalo and then in 1990-1991 the production of vegetable-tanned calfskin for use in footwear and leather goods for export to European and non-European countries. In that same period the ECOCALF trademark was registered in relation to the environment-friendly skins with specific processing characteristics and the absence of certain dangerous substances.
At the end of the 1990s production adopted its current format, and the need arose to systematically, effectively and efficiently manage aspects associated with product and process quality, culminating in 2000 with UNI EN ISO 9001 certification obtained from ACCREDIA, the authorised quality certification institute for the tanning industry in Italy. Conceria Lloyd today is one of the few Italian companies to also have ISO 14001 and ISO 18001 certification.

Traditional vegetable tannage
Through traditional vegetable tannage, Conceria LLOYD enhances the skins selected from among the best European qualities, preserving the natural appearance and giving “aged” characteristics to the leather. Leather tanned by this process, in fact, is attributable to the oldest tanning techniques first used to produce footwear in the Egyptian and Roman eras.
Lloyd products are traditionally processed with tannin extracts from renewable plant sources (trees, bark, fruit) which give the leather a natural colouring dependent on the plant used during processing. This technique offers low environmental impact at the time of disposal of the end product and of processing waste from the various phases, so the material is 100% environment friendly. One of the features that make our processing unique is the manufacture of products for saddlery and leather goods, completely hypoallergenic, dyed and stuffed by hand using natural oils and waxes, and strongly wear and pull resistant.
The end products have a natural appearance and a vintage effect that are highly sought after by the leading international brands, and our leather is used for belts and in the bags sector for parts most subject to wear and tear, such as handles. In addition, due to its particular resistance to pull, wear and tear, the products are used in saddlery and bridlery.
This type of tannage is without doubt one of the oldest: used since the Egyptian and Roman eras as the main footwear production technique and, still today, is one of the preferred techniques by those seeking environment-friendly, hypoallergenic products.
The Group Nuti Ivo offer
This is the most common type of tannage worldwide and is used for most leather-based products on the market. The origins of chrome tannage are relatively recent. We can trace its beginnings to the early 20th century, and it quickly became the most common processing type used.
Nuti White Leather is the innovative metal-free tannage invented and applied exclusively by the Nuti Ivo Group. The end product is a skin similar to that achieved from chrome tannage, but more robust and with increased tensile strength. Nuti White Leather is the Metal-Free with the highest tanning material value in its class: 75 Tg
